Ignoring services when entire host is down

I am looking for a way to avoid notifications for all services on a host 
when the entire host is offline.  If the host has 20 services, I am 
getting 21 notifications when the connection to the host goes down.  
Instead, I am looking for a way to get a single notification that the 
host is down and not for all of it's services. 

I have tried service dependencies but that didn't work. 

Is there a way to do this?
