About retry intervals of Host Check

Hello all.
I would like to get an advice with the host check retry interval.
When you are using on demand host check, what would be the interval between the host check retry?
I thoght that host check retry intervals are 1 minute but in some cases they are not.
[12-22-2009 08:22:11] HOST ALERT: test;UP;SOFT;2;OK - 192.168.131.53: rta 0.545ms, lost 0%
[12-22-2009 08:21:51] HOST ALERT: test;DOWN;SOFT;1;CRITICAL - 192.168.131.53: rta nan, lost 100%
Could someone help us out?
