That's not true at all. The minimum interval is specified by the
interval_length parameter in nagios.cfg and defalts to 60 (seconds).
It doesn't make sense to use an interval_length shorter than 2
seconds (for implementation reasons), but a 2 second interval should
be well short enough for this sort of thing.
