Have you looked at Rancid (www.shrubbery.net/rancid).<BR>

It does a beautiful job of archiving router and switch configs. <BR>
- cvs storage<BR>
- email alerts with config diffs<BR>
- includes hardware version/serial<BR>
- includes non-default config<BR>
- does not need a tftp server (perl and expect)<BR>
- multivendor<BR>

I tend to hookup ViewCVS to the repository and it allows me to get context<BR>
diffs on all those acl lists<BR>

color=#0000ff>I looked into using rancid, but that was over two years ago.
For some reason it didn't work out for me, so I wrote a script that used
snmpset to upload the configs. It's much cleaner than expect (which I was forced
to use once we started adding HP switches to the network). The config diffs
sound interesting though, as well as the multivendor support (Juniper perhaps?).
