Imagine this scenario where there are 1000's of m/cs running across different networks..Its going to be quite a tedious task to manually enter the host information eventhough each host could be using different services..
May be hosts across different network need different services to be monitored then there should be a easier way to specify all the hosts under one network right?

On 4/5/06,

Not with nagios you can't.

each host must be specified individually to be able to attach 'service
checks' to these hosts.
If all you want to do is send a ping to a bunch of servers and see if they
reply, I think there are other (more lightweight) tools available for

Hi, I am a newbie to nagios..I have a small network which is a combination
of linux and windows box.Instead of having to specify IP address of each
host in the hosts.cfg file to monitor, could I specify the subnet mask or
some other easier way so I could monitor all the hosts in my network..

Regards,
Rashmi

-------------------------------------------------------
This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language
