"error in packet", if I use anything with less that 6 characters I get the same
error, if I use public1 or anything with more than 6 characters I just get host

people monitoring other stuff on printers using the SNMP protocoll. However,
since we have that protocol disabled I have no experience in that. If you just
want to make sure it is up and running you could use the check_ping. Assuming

HP 2600n printer and have come across the following statement in the quick start

check_hpjd plugin will only get compiled and installed if you have the net-snmp

Make sure the plugin exists in /usr/local/nagios/libexec before
