I followed the configuration for NRPE on both the Nagios server and the remote system and have it very close but am stumbling over the final piece. I have the remote system able to work with the nrpe daemon and that is all good. When I try to do a simple check_nrpe from my Nagios server I am getting:</FONT></SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=901025213-06032009><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></SPAN> </DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=901025213-06032009><FONT face=Arial size=2>CHECK_NRPE: Error receiving data from host.</FONT></SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=901025213-06032009><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></SPAN> </DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=901025213-06032009><FONT face=Arial size=2>I tried to telnet to the port on the remote system and was successful (telnet remotehost 5666). This means it can't be a firewall issue or any problem with routing. The log on the remote system shows the nrpe daemon starting up and exiting on the completion of the check.</FONT></SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=901025213-06032009><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></SPAN> </DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=901025213-06032009><FONT face=Arial size=2>I know this must be something very simple that I am missing.
