Sharada, check the permission on the monitoring server for the actual plugin you are calling. Make sure check_nrpe has the proper permission. Also make sure you have the right version of nrpe and nrpe plugin. The nrpe server and the check_nrpe has to be same version. I always found it easy to install it from the source than working with prebuilt package. I hope this works for you.
