<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">I completed the installation of the Nagios 3.1.2 application onto our CentOS 5.3 server. Everything appears</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">to be working fine with one noticeable exception: If I go to the host information page of any host, and select</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Schedule a check of all services on the host, and subsequently click on commit, I get the following error:</FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Error: Could not open command file '/usr/local/nagios/var/rw/nagios.cmd' for update!</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The permissions on the external command file and/or directory may be incorrect. </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Read the FAQs on how to setup proper permissions. </FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">An error occurred while attempting to commit your command for processing</FONT><FONT FACE="Arial">.</FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">I went through and verified the following:</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">1. The nagios user account has the bash shell.</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">2. The permissions on the nagios directory, and its subdirectories are as follows:</FONT>
<BR> <FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">user:group ownership = nagios:nagios</FONT>
<BR> <FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">permissions = rwxrwxrwx</FONT>
