I don't have any examples for you (I'm still a newbie to nagios,
trying to understand the manual and configurations), But I've used a
program called mailsend
(http://www.muquit.com/muquit/software/mailsend/mailsend.html) on both
Windows and Linux that sends to port 25 on mail servers, and it works
very well for me. See if it fits your needs.
