I placed mine out of direct airflow and beside my rack. It's at about
five feet. Generally you don't want air blowing across across the probe,
because you'll get a big fluctuation from when the A/C is on and when
it's off.
I experimented with various places in the room and placed it finally at
the warmest point beside the rack. Since the rack dumps so much heat,
it's roughly 6-8 degrees warmer from one side of the room (no equipment)
to the other. Just keep it out of the direct airflow and don't place it
too low...remember heat rises. Hope that helps. :)
