service with only passive checks.

Ok. Sort of a newbie, but I did go through the FAQ and docs and can't seem
to find a way to do this. If I am an idiot and it's documented, or
thinking wrong, please yell at me.

I want to define services with no real check_command, only a passive
check. I would like it to simply assume that it's in the last state sent
in via passive check. Is that at all possible?
