I can easily disable notifications on my development server, but that doesn't allow me to test notifications. I'd like to be able to group a set of services as production, and enable or disable them with some simple configuration. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue?

Why not put the host into scheduled downtime? I know around our shop we
pull the server from it's cluster before anything is deployed to it. I
hope you do the same ;)

I use the following URI to ignore anything that is planned/know about:

/nagios/cgi-bin/status.cgi?host=all&servicestatustypes=252&hostprops=42&serviceprops=42&sorttype=1&sortoption=6
