Sorry i just realized that you use NRPE 1.8

NRPE 1.8 is not compatible to nrpe 2.0 (which the current version in 
Nagios). Try getting an old NRPE for your Nagios box or a 2.0 for your 
HP Box. try to be patient for a day, as there are at least some HP-UX 
Users on the list but they may be asleep ;-0
