Hi guys
1 use the new Nagios 2.0b2 Version, because i want/need the feature of
passive host-checking.
First let me explain our Environment. I have currently 160-200 hosts to
check with Nagios in passive mode. I use NSCA-CVS Version 2.5 for this
behavior.
Every 5 minutes sending a Host-Check to our Nagios and NSCA Server via
cronjob, with send_nsca (echo `hostname`;0;OK | /opt/nagios/bin/send_nsca -H
nagioshost.mydomain.ch -d ; -c /opt/nagios/etc/send_nsca.cfg). This works
fine.
On Server site i use the following Host-Template for our DMZ-Hosts (passive)
:
define host {
name generic-host-passive
notifications_enabled 1
event_handler_enabled 0
flap_detection_enabled 1
process_perf_data 0
retain_status_information 1
retain_nonstatus_information 1
active_checks_enabled 1
check_freshness 1
freshness_threshold 420
check_period 24x7
check_command check_dummy!2!"No Report, host maybe down"
max_check_attempts 10
notification_interval 120
notification_period 24x7
notification_options d,u,r
register 0
}
Host Configuration:
define host {
use generic-host-passive
host_name stydia
alias stydia: Nagios Development Server (Sun)
address 10.25.1.65
contact_groups unix-admins
notification_period workhours
}
Nagios main-configuration (relevant Parts):
host_check_timeout=30
execute_host_checks=1
accept_passive_host_checks=1
check_host_freshness=1
host_freshness_check_interval=420
Every host with passive Checks uses template 'generic-host-passive'.
This works fine for some hosts, but not all and there is my possible
misunderstanding.
See this Log Entry :

I have about 30 Hosts which goes Down (for Nagios) directly after receiving
the passive Host-Check, what i'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance
Chris
