simple question

Im new to nagios, therefore im asking too much :)
There are lot of plugins in /libexec directory for whom there is no 
entry in etc/checkcommands.cfg file e,g check_nagios. Now if I want to 
use this plugin may I have to add an entry in etc/checkcommands.cfg file
or
I just can use it in services.cfg file "check_command   check_nagios"?
