You'll need at least one service on the host as well. The most common
way is to add a PING service with some moderately nice values so that
you can get warnings in case the firewall is under heavy load (and takes
time to respond to ICMP), and add a host-check using the same command
but higher threshold values so you only get notified when the host is
really down. Make sure you add your ACCEPT for icmp from the nagios
server at the bottom of the list, so you get a warning early when the
load is high.
