DB supoprt in Nagios 2.x dropped?

I've read the changelog for Nagios 2.x to see what it has over my 
current 1.4.1 and I noticed that under  2.0b1 - 12/15/2004 it says 
"Native DB support dropped".

Can anybody confirm that this means there is no DB support in 2.x so you 
can no longer use a MySQL/PostgreSQL backend?
